Kia ora and welcome to room 12 - "The Opals" - Wiki Site.

Great News!! -

This is now truly 'OUR' site. The super people at wiki spaces have made every person of our class a unique member of Opals wiki space. To log in you need your username and password.

Your pages on the 'My Stuff' link are really starting to take off ... Keep it up.


In Term 4 our inquiry topic will be looking at Ecological Sustainability. Why not take a family trip round Pirongia or up Kakapuku and see how many different types of native plants or birds you can recognise?

Parents and caregivers please feel free to call into our classroom and see what your precious gems are up to.

Week 10 News:

  • On Monday the Gems are walking down for a swim at the event centre followed by a picnic in the park (weather permitting). Parents are welcome to join us for the walk down (leaving school at 11am) and for the picnic. We will be back in school around 2pm.
  • The end of term is fast approaching - please check at home for any reading books that need to be returned to school. Thank you
  • Please check out our Home Learning page for some great ideas to help practise spellings at home.
  • Please check your child's stationery - they need to have a blue pen, red pen, pencil, ruler, rubber and pencil sharpener
  • Please ensure that all uniform and stationary is named.
  • Keep an eye on our Art and ICT page as more work keeps appearing.
  • Check out our Topic page in the next couple of weeks to see what happens in our science investigations .
  • Check our our Opal Calendar and keep track of all the useful dates. - (If you would like certain events added, please let me know)
  • Term 4 ends on 18th December

Congratulations Bradley for earning the Silver Kiwi this week. Your attitude has been absolutely awesome of late and you set a great example to everyone by giving things a go and enjoying yourself while doing it. We're all really proud of your achievements.

WOW!! The Kapa Haka festival was awesome. Congratulations to the middle team students who came first. You really showed passion and energy - Well Done.

Visitors in the classroom:
Thank you so much all of you who came to grandparents day.
It was wonderful being able to share some of the things we are doing with you.
Remember, you are more than welcome back in our classroom whenever you like
(you'll be especially welcome if you bring a favourite story to read!!)


We've had a couple of really cool visitors to our classroom. First we had a visit from Mrs Dannock and her new baby.
Then Lisa brought in her new puppy.
